About the Artist
Gaby Miranda is a visual artist born and raised in Miami, FL.
The first in her Cuban family to be born in the U.S. Coming from a family of artists; portrait artists, abstract artists, actors, directors, and art professors. Naturally, her love of the arts began as a child and was happily encouraged.
She received her Bachelor in Visual Arts at Miami International University in 2020. Miranda is currently completing her Master in Visual Art at Miami International University where she was offered a partial scholarship.
Her work has been featured at the Ancient Spanish Monastery in Miami Beach, FL for the annual 'Artists in the Cloisters' collective exhibit and at Futurama 1637 in Little Havana, FL for the annual 'Cafe con Arte' collective exhibit.
She works from her studio, also in Miami, FL.
About the Art
Gaby's favorite medium is oil paint.
In the beginning of her process, she combines various photos to use as a reference and designs a collage drawing on the iPad. This serves as a blueprint for her paintings.
She is a fan of bright, saturated colors usually featuring a rainbow incorporated in the painting as a sort of signature. Gaby recognizes that before we are human beings, we are spiritual beings. The rainbow symbolizes our chakras, the energy points of the body.
Her subject matter is portraiture often featuring celebrities, musicians, and public figures. Her work has been described as pop surrealism, most recently using political and current events as a inspiration.
